day 5......a 'rest' day!
Eating is still gong well, I am constantly thinking about food. I really have to work on changing that. I realized that I convince myself that I am hungry in order to justify sitting down to eat and avoiding doing something 'unpleasant' like cleaning the house or doing dishes or laundry or paying bills.
Jellybean and I have worked out our schedule. We will meet on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings. Porter will be happy! He loves walking with us :o)

Today is Saturday, the first day of 'training'. I got up early and was at AHS just before 7 this morning. Jellybean and her girls arrived soon after me. We decided to start walking while we waited for Eva. The Compass and I completed 1 leisurely walked lap when Eva showed up. The 3 of us did 2 warm up laps. I was then set out on my own to walk at a steady pace for 45 minutes, counting my laps. I completed 9. In total, I walked 3 miles.
My goal is to improve my lap count in 45 minutes. I will walk for approximately 6 weeks and then start to add in some jogging. I would like to add jogging a bit sooner, but I don't want to hurt myself. I am also to have REST days in between.
My eating is still going well, I did have a few chocolate almonds to satisfy a mental "thing". Other than that all is well. Praise God :o)

day 2.....continued
day 2......
The rest of yesterday went well. I kept to my plan of healthy eating. I ate only when I was hungry, which is a huge accomplishment for me!
Before work yesterday morning, I threw a roast, potatoes and an onion in the crock pot. It did its job and we had a great meal ready when I got home from work. We had a small/quick dinner before church. After the service, Jellybean and I met up with Eva and started to map out a plan. We are meeting at AHS on Saturday morning at 7 am. YIKES, that’s early! We are planning to do a 5k in May and a ½ marathon in September. Eva told us that we have to change the way we eat. I am already working on that. I am adding more fruits and vegetables, less crackers and starchy foods. I am also cutting back on sugars…including diet sodas :o(
Last night, after our meeting, I was hungry again- I really wanted to eat a Twinkie or some of the peanut butter cookies. I ended up making a small sandwich with the leftovers from dinner. It was a much smarter choice. I threw away the cookies and ignored Brian’s Twinkies. I went to bed happy with my decision.
This morning, I had my coffee but was very hungry by 8:30 and wanted to eat ANYTHING. I went back to work and wisely ate my bagel and pear. YAY!!!
A New Plan...
Yesterday I called my friend and agreed to start training to run a race. We will be trained by a wonderful lady at our church named Eva. I can't believe I have agreed to this. Eva is looking for a race for us to enter, with a date to work toward. As a result of the impending race, I really need to get/keep my eating under control.
Today I packed my lunch :) However, while grocery shopping for work, I decided that I was very hungry and needed a bag of BBQ chips and a box of donut holes…along with a delicious blueberry muffin. It took everything in me to not buy those items and instead head back to work and eat my bagel with a bit of peanut butter…a true treat for me. I am very glad I made the right choice. I am a snacker, so I still want to snack on crackers or chips here at work. I ate my pear instead. It was perfect. We’ll see how the rest of the day progresses…

eeeeesh, its been too long...
1. my weight
2. my bills
3. my sister
4. my job
5. my house
6. my lack of seeing my friend
The list could probably go on and on and on...let's see, oh yeah! I made it all about me. WOW, not once did I pray about this. God is bigger than all of these things. His power is far more capable of handling this than mine. Yet, I continue to hold on and try to fix it myself. Yikes, I am a 'self-a-holic'.

My First Post :)
This morning I woke up at around 6 am. I spent time praying and thanking God for His grace, love and blessings. I read the end of the book of Matthew. As I marveled at God’s great sacrifice (His Son), I made grand plans to tidy up my house, do my dishes, organize my office, pay bills, do my husband’s billing and balance my checkbooks(which haven’t been done in ages). I finished reading Matthew, and made coffee for my husband and I. While listening to the brewing coffee maker, I poured myself a bowl of granola and immediately plopped down onto the couch and watched ‘Confessions of a Shopaholic’. Nothing got done, my great plans to be responsible died on the couch.
As I showered, to go to church this SUNDAY morning, God’s day, I realized how utterly selfish I am. I am the most selfish person I know. I am a ‘self-aholic’…
I am grateful however, that I feel as though God has grabbed me by the shoulders and shaken me up. Here is my list of selfish behaviors that were immediately pointed out to me:
1. I can’t be bothered to clean my house because most people know that I hate to clean. So, why bother? They understand…I work a full-time job.
2. I can’t be bothered to work out because… I couldn’t wake up early enough or I just got off work and want to spend time with my husband or I’m tired or I have other plans or, or, or… the list could go on and on!
3. I don’t want to balance the checkbooks or pay bills because…let’s face it, that is just not fun regardless.
4. I don’t do the billing for my husband’s business when I should, because I can always do it LATER !!!
So, all that to say, it has become very clear that my little world is all about me and not about glorifying God by serving the people around me. I am going to change this with a lot of prayer and encouragement from some very important people in my little world. God, in His infinite grace, has strategically placed several wonderful women in my life. I am so blessed.
